Ruth Ruttan, a registered nurse, has worked extensively as an educator, a consultant and an entrepreneur. She is a leader in the foot care profession, and is looked to by nurses in the field for direction. Ruth is eager to bring her skills and experience to the IPNIG executive.
Ruth works primarily as a seminar leader and program designer and presenter, providing both certification programs and customized seminars. Since 1997, Ruth has hosted an Annual Foot care Conference, a highly successful event that regularly sells out. She also hosted Workshop on the Seas (seminars while cruising) with a foot care clinic in St. Thomas, V.I. For the past 12 years, Ruth has owned and operated Ruth Ruttan & Associates (www.ruthruttan.com), a company known for excellence in providing foot care instruction to nurses. Her areas of expertise also include diabetes and skin care.
Ruth frequently acts as a consultant to medical organizations and companies. Her work has involved creating foot care policies and procedures, participating in the design of foot care instruments, and advising manufacturing and supply companies on the requirements of nurses in the foot care field. She has contributed to the CNO Foot care Guidelines, as well as RNAO Best Practice Guidelines.
Further volunteer involvement includes membership over several years and an executive position with Toastmasters International, a professional group focused on becoming effective communicators and leaders.
Ruth’s career has focused on education and mentorship. She looks forward to her involvement in IPNIG as an opportunity to help other nurses cope with the challenges and joys of independent practice.
