Elizabeth Slonchka

Elizabeth Slonchka brings enthusiasm, versatility, and a talent for communicating to the role of Newsletter Editor/Website Liaison for the Independent Practice Nurses (IPNIG) group.

A Registered Nurse with over 20 years of experience, Elizabeth has worked in a variety of settings, including at the bedside, in long term care, as part of a management team, in medical sales, and as a nurse entrepreneur. As a newly minted independent practice nurse operating her own clinic, Elizabeth provides treatment for chronic pain and wound care with laser therapy. This role has required Elizabeth to educate patients and medical practitioners about an emerging technology through printed matter and her website (www.thelasercure.com).

Elizabeth’s career demonstrates passion for quality of service. Working as a Nurse Manager, she was responsible for overseeing patient care in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Practice. As a Director, Elizabeth was responsible for setting goals for the nursing department, promoting resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement. Elizabeth advocated on behalf of residents and communicated with families to ensure high quality care.

Elizabeth completed her Nursing diploma at Humber College, and holds special certification in Wound Care and Dementia. She is a Business graduate from Sheridan College. She is working on her degree at York University. She is a member of the Brampton Board of Trade, Women Supporting Women in business, and a volunteer with the Epilepsy Society. Elizabeth is also the mother of a six year old son with epilepsy and an enthusiastic supporter of The Hospital for Sick Children.
